What expungement does
When a Kentucky court expunges a case, the record is removed from the court system, the state police, and every agency that held it. The court will say no record exists. You can answer “no” on a job, housing, or loan application when it asks about it, and your right to vote comes back with it.
Kentucky now allows expungement of most Class D felonies, unlimited misdemeanors, and any charge that was dismissed or acquitted. Most people who finished their sentence five or more years ago qualify for something.
